Dell XPS 13 9370 Review 2019, See our review of Dell XPS 13, which shows the strange 'Nosemak'.
Dell's XPS 13has been our favorite consumer laptop since the last few years, thanks to its beautiful almost borderless display, light weight and sleeveless beautiful.
design with slimmer dimensions and a beautiful white-and-gold color scheme. Among other improvements, XPS 13 9370 (starting $ 849, $ 1,249 / $ 2,499 in trial) provides an optional 4K display, a better webcam, support for EGPP and a cooling system which offers strong continuous performance Promises
Dell XPS 13 9370
However, to make its laptop slim, Dell switched to a small battery and got rid of the USB Type-A port. Consequently, some users would prefer the old, XPS 139360, which is still for sale and is powered by the same Intel 8th Gen Core CPU. But if you want the best combination of design, portability and power, then XPS 13 9370 is the best to beat.

The design
If you keep the last few generations of XPS 13 in a lineup, you will not be able to tell them differently, unless you see the CPU sticker on the deck.
However, XPS 13 9370 stands with a little slimmer and lighter profile with its new, alternative gold-and-white color scheme. Dell also sells 9370 in the traditional silver and black beauty of XPS 13.
Although its price is slightly higher ($ 50 extra on the base model), you will definitely want to get white color, because it is just plain stunning. The lid and bottom are made of gold-colored aluminum, while white sides and decks are made from knitted crystalline silica fibers.
The texture of the deck combines a breeze of sophistication and feels good against our wrist, although the old XPS 13S and Silver models are not as soft-touch as carbon-fiber decks.
No matter what color you choose, the XPS 13 is slightly slender and lighter than its predecessor. The weight of XPS 13 9370 is just 2.65 pounds, and it is 0.46 inches thick on its thickest point (0.3 inches on its thinner).
The previous generation XPS 13 9360 is 0.13 pounds more and it is 0.14 inches thick. Specter 13 of HP is also wide, weighing 2.4 pounds and 0.41 inches thick. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 carries the carbon scales at 2.49 pounds, but 0.6 inches.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Ports
Unfortunately, when XPS 13 was dropped down to 0.46 inches, Dell had to dig into standard, USB type-A port and full-size SD card reader, which appeared over the previous generations.
On the left of XPS13 9370, you will find two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which can charge a laptop or connect to high-speed peripherals. There is also Noble lock slot and battery gauge, which shows the charging level on a series of five white lights.
On the right side, you will find a 3.5mm audio jack, a MicroSD card slot and a USB Type-C port, which can output displayplot video. Dell XPS 139360 and ThinkPad X1 Carbon have standard USB ports in addition to Thunderbolt 3, while HP Speaker 13 also lacks the USB Type-A connector.
In a major improvement on XPS 13 9360, the Thunderbolt 3 ports of 9370 support four-lane PCI connections, so you can use eGPU laptops for serious gaming.
In a major improvement on XPS 13 9360, Thunderbolt 3 ports of 9370 support four-lane PCI connections, so that you can use the laptop with an EGPU (external graphics card) that enables serious gaming.
In earlier models, only two lanes of PCI were connected to their Vajra 3 port, so they could not work properly with external graphics. We tested XPS 13 9370 with APS gaming box 1070, and it worked.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Display
XPS 13 9370's 13.3-inch, There are bezels in the InfinityEdge display, which are 23 percent thinner than XPS 7360 compared to almost any similar limitations. Because there is virtually no frame around the top and sides of the screen, the images just seem to pop more.
We tested the Dell XPS 13 9370 with both the 3840 x 2160 (4K, Ultra HD) touch screen and a 1920 x 1080 non-touch screen. Both models offered impressive glow, color quality and sharpness, although the 4K screen was considerably better. When I saw 4K film Tears of Steel, neon pink and green light were affected on both the display, but Ultra was more rich on HD panels.
Thin details, such as strings on the body of a robot and wrinkles in the character jacket, stood out on both panels, and the colors remained right, even at the left or right side of 90 degrees. Now, having sticked to the same chassis for several generations, the premium flagship of Dell has a new de
According to our light meter, XPS 13 9370 with 1080p screen received impressive scores of 372 nits, while models with 4K panel blew us with 415 nits.
Both numbers are much higher than the average of the ultra-portable laptop category (290 nits), X1 carbon (275 nits) and HP Specter 13 (247 nits).
XPS 13 9360 created the same 368 nits with 1080p screen.
The 1080p screen on XPS 13 9370 reproduced an impressive 117 percent sRGB color gamut, but the 4K panel was very lively, which was 130 percent complete. Both numbers range from average (105 percent) and thinkpad X1 carbon (104 percent with 1080p screen). But the 1080p panel from XPS 13 7360 (112 percent) and Specter 13 (111 percent) is only 5 to 6 percent ahead of the points.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Audio
The XPS 13 9370's side-mounted speaker distributes the audio loudly, but roughly around the edges.
When I played the role of "back in black" of AC / DC, then the music was more difficult than it was to fill our laboratory, but guitar and drums were a bit rigid and tinny.
Preloaded Waves MaxxAudio software allows you to fine-tune the ecuador. Disabling MaxxAudio, which is turned on by default, hid and removed the music sound.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard of XPS13 9370 provides a solid typing experience, even if the keys are slightly on the shallow side. Perhaps because the laptop is so thin, 1.2 millimeter travel (keys 1.5 to 2 mm is common on mainstream laptops) in keys, but they provide some effective activation force of 72 grams to this extent.
On tenfastfingers.com typing test, I reached a nominal rate of 94 words per minute with a 4 percent error rate, which is at the lower end of my normal range.
x 2.4-inch, buttonless touchpad provided extremely accurate navigation, without sticking or jumping. The left and right click fields provided only the amount of correct response. Pad responded promptly and accurately to multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom and three-finger swipe.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Display
For this review, we tested two different configurations of XPS 13 9370. High-end models sport Core i7-8550U CPUs, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD and 4K touch screen, whereas Core i5 was in place of mainstream. 8250U processor, 8GB RAM, a 256GB SSD and a 1080p non-touch screen.
From web surfing to light gaming and writing parts of this review, both versions of XPS 13 9370 have handed us all of them without hesitation.
Because it uses a new thermal setup with dual fans, dual heat pipes and special thermal insulation, the XPS 139370 is able to aggressively stop throttling its processor as many other laptops.
on long tasks, such as compressing 4K video or running a single benchmark 10 times.
When they are hot during intense tasks, most laptops slow down their CPU to cool them down. Because it uses a new thermal setup with dual fans, dual heat pipes and special thermal insulation, the XPS 139370 is able to aggressively stop throttling its processor as many other laptops.
We saw evidence of performance improvement during our video compression test, where we use handbrakes to transcode 4K video to 1080p. Core i7-powered XPS 13 9370 takes just 16 minutes to complete this task. On the other hand, they took the XPS 13 9360, which had the same exact core i7-8550U CPU, took 19 minutes and 35 seconds.
We also ran the Cinebench R15 Benchmark, which measures the processing power by dragging a 3D image 10 times in a row on a few different laptops.
XPS 13 9370 with Core i7 processor got a score of 679 on the first run (higher is better), which dropped to number 6 at 635, 6.4 percent fall. Its core i5-powered sibling, however, went from 666 to 633, with a fall of 4.9 percent.
When we tried to do the same work on the Microsoft Surface Book 2 (13-inch) with the Core i7-8550U, it had to face a decline of 26 percent from the first to the last race. An HP Specter x360 was completely stable with the same Core i7 processor, having very low scores of 456 on both first and last runs.
Using the Dell Power Manager app, you can configure the laptop's thermal management to offer "ultra performance" with hot temperatures. We ran Cinebanch 15 times in this mode, and the score on the 10th run increased from 707 to 655 on the first rung However, they are high numbers, we have also experienced high temperature, in which the function line is going to hit a Balki 115 degree by the end of the last run.
We recommend sticking to the default, "customized" mode, which gives you the best balance between display and skin temperature.
When we run Geekbench 4, a synthetic test that measures performance, Core Core i5-8250U-powered XPS 13 9370 scored 13,254, while the Core i7-8550U-enabled version registered 14,180.
The last-gen Dell XPS 139360 with the same Core i7-8550U CPU created the same mark as 14,158. HP's Specter 13, which is also inside Core i7-8550U, made a low mark of 13,090.
With Core i7, it took just 1 minute and 6 seconds to match XPS 13 9370 with 50,000 names with your address in Microsoft Excel. Core i5 model ended in 1 minute and 15 seconds, while XPS 13 9360 fell between the two at 1:08.
Core i7-powered XPS 13 9370 1TB PCIe SSD took only 13 seconds to copy 4.97GB files, 399.4 Mbps rate, while core i5 model did 256GB unit work at the rate of 339.2 Mbps.
Both numbers are much better than category average (232 mbps) and x1 carbon (242 mbps) Receiving the rate of XPS 13 9360 508 Mbps with 256GB SSD was even faster. HP Specter 13 (339.3 Mbps) originally built Core i5-powered XPS 139370.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Graphics
With its integrated Intel UHD 620 GPU, XPS 13 9370 Lite is enough to play some games in video editing or under settings. Its Core i7- and Core i5-powered models obtained 85,616 and 77,584 points respectively on the Synthetic Graphics Test 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited. Both model range was much ahead of average (62,573), HP Specter 13 (75114) and X1 Carbon (68,082). XPS 13 9360 81,837 fell between the two with the mark.
No matter which Dell XPS 13 9370 configuration you choose, you will get top-average battery life, but a 1080p non-touch screen model lasts for several hours.
While playing Dirt 3, XPS 13 with Core i7 returned a frame rate of 66.9 fps, while the Core I5 model still got a strong 56.7 FPS. XPS 139360 (56 FPS) and HP Specter 13 (57 FPS) got the same rate, while X1 Carbon (28 FPS) and category average (42 FPS) were behind.
Dell XPS 13 9370 battery life
No matter which Dell XPS 13 9370 configuration you choose, you will get top-average battery life, but a 1080p non-touch screen model lasts for several hours. The XPS 13 9370 laptop with 1080p non-touch screen ran for 12 hours and 37 minutes on the battery test, which includes frequent surfing on Wi-Fi. A 4K display model runs for 8 hours and 53 minutes.
Those numbers are favorable to optimal range averages (8:16) and HP Specter 13's time at 6:16.
However, with the 1080p screen, Dell's slightly older XPS 9360 runs for 16 hours and 5 minutes on our test. That's because, to make its laptop slim and lightweight, Dell switched the 6060-hour battery to 9360 and switched to the 52-hour unit at 9370.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Heat
Both the XPS 13 9370 configuration we tried to remain pleasant during our testing. After a video streaming for 15 minutes, the touchpad, keyboard of the core i7-powered model, and below 82, 86.5 and 88 degrees Fahrenheit was hit, which is below our 95-degree comfort limit. Core i5 models found temperatures similar to 80, 85.5 and 88 degrees.
m performance, lowest temperature or at least noise. During most of our tests we used default, optimized settings, and the laptop always felt the touch cool. However, when we switched to "Ultra Performance" mode, we got a bit more score, but 115 degrees at the top of the keyboard.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Webcam
Along with XPS13 9370, Dell has transferred the webcam from the lower left corner of Bezle to the center bottom.
Yes, it's still a "nose cam" that looks at you, but because the lens is focused, it gets a much better angle. When I shot a selfie, I was able to bring my head to the center at the top of the frame, in which the camera was watching me, by lifting it down and lifting the lid.
The quality of the image was equivalent to another premium laptop; The colors of blue and gray in my shirt were right, and in the background there was only limited amounts of noise.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Software and warranty
Dell preloads XPS 13 9370with some useful utilities and some bloatware. Dell Power Manager lets you tweak system settings to balance maximum performance (with high heat and noisy), best skin temperature, cool fan noise, or all three. Dell provides help and support tutorials and warrant information.
The Dell SupportAssist systemchecks health, shows configuration information and helps you download new drivers.
Del Remote Desktop allows you to remotely control the laptop from another device.
The system also comes with its proper part of bloat. Dell McAfee packs on LiveSafe and a Dropbox promotion trial, which gives new users 20GB free space for one year.
Microsoft packs on its standard set of Windows 10 pre-loads, which includes a link to purchase Minecraft, March of Empire, Bubble Witch 3 Saga, Autodesk Sketchbook and Drawboard PDF.
Dell returned his laptop with a limited warranty on a year, parts and labor.

Dell XPS 13 Value and Configuration Options
Dell XPS 13 9370 provides several configurations. The $ 849 base model has 1080p non-touch screen, a core i3-8130 CPU, 4GB RAM and a 128 GB SSD; Rose's gold and white models cost $ 50 more.
We recommend the $ 1,099 model, which includes a Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Trick-out, $ 1,869 models have a 4K touch screen, a core i7-8550U CPU, 16GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. A 512GB SSD costs $ 150 more and the cost of 1TB SSD is $ 750.
If battery life is your top priority, get a model with a 1080p non-touch screen, but vibrant colors on the 4K panel make it an even more attractive choice.
Dell XPS 13 9370 Ground level
With 4K display for its sharp display and beautiful design, there is lots of love about Dell XPS 139370.
Although still not ideal, its centered webcam is a major improvement on the left-aligned one on the pre-model. The ability to work with the 9370 EGPP also makes it a great option for those who want to play demanding games.
Consumers who demand the longest possible endurance or who can not live without USB Type-A Port, should consider XPS 13 9360, which Dell will continue to sell for future future.
However, if you want the best combination of performance, portability and aesthetics, XPS 13 9370 is designed for you.
