Morning anxiety is best described as feelings of uneasiness that tend to build over within first hour or so of you waking up. The symptoms could vary from restlessness, irritability, fatigue, panic, poor concentration and sometimes, going blank. Nightmares and panic attacks may also contribute to morning anxiety.
Luckily, the symptoms of morning anxiety can be overwhelming but are easily manageable. As compiled from Huffington Post, here are four ways to overcome them.
1. Fix your sleep cycle

First things first: put the electronic devices on silent and away from sight when you hit the bed at night. Establish a sleep routine, do some quick meditation or yoga exercises before going to bed. Good sleep is essential for biological functioning.
2. Set a morning routine

Go for an early morning walk and watch the sunrise. A morning stroll or jog may help uplift your mood and make the anxious feelings fade away. Working out or a physical form of meditation can work as an instant mood booster. .
3. Look at the brighter side of things

When you wake up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror, tell yourself, “You are healthy! You are positive! Do not let those negative feelings get to you.” Positive affirmations are extremely important to overcome anxiety. The mind needs to take over and make your body feel positive enough to function better.
In addition to this, you can start a journal. Write two or three pages every morning, whatever comes to your mind. It does not have to be full sentences or make any sense, just get out whatever is on your mind as a therapeutic practice.
4. Treat yourself to a fancy breakfast

Some people drink coffee or eat fatty foods early in the morning not knowing that it can lead to jitters and so, make your mornings more stressful. Instead, try to include fruits and nuts in your diet, especially since breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
